Menopause & Cortisol
01/20/2025

Wondering whether you're really more stressed out in menopause or not? Science has the answer...

This study looked at data from over 100 women, who gave separate observations totaling over 5000, to gain insights into the menopause transition. In this case, cortisol was the focus. The study found that overnight cortisol levels during the menstrual cycle were linked to levels of E1G (estrogen), testosterone, and FSH. They were also strongly related to higher amounts of epinephrine and norepinephrine. However, factors like the stage of the menstrual cycle, symptoms, and social or health-related issues didn’t seem to affect overnight cortisol levels once other biological markers were taken into account.
